With Angel Hernandez no longer calling games, the honor of being the worst umpire in MLB belongs to Laz Diaz. The veteran ump has been infuriating players, managers and fans for years and that continued Tuesday night in Phoenix.

The Diamondbacks won April 8 amid ejections and a bizarre play. They rolled the success into one of their more complete victories of the year April 9.

Merrill Kelly is Tuesday's scheduled starter for Arizona. Kelly was hammered by the Yankees on April 3 in New York, giving up a career-high nine runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Veteran umpire Laz Diaz threw Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly and manager Torey Lovullo out of Tuesday’s 4-3 D-backs victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Kelly and Lovullo, along with Orioles announcers Kevin Brown and Ben McDonald, disagreed with Diaz’s strike zone.

Merrill Kelly started for the Diamondbacks at home against the Orioles. Kelly was hammered on April 3, but rebounded nicely against Baltimore.
