Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and hundreds of drones overnight, killing two people, wounding 15 and causing damage and fires in several parts of the country, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday.

Another attempt at peace talks between Ukraine and Russia is on the horizon amid Russia's continuous assault on Ukraine. Russian drone and missile strikes killed at least two people and injured 15 others in Kyiv just hours before the United Kingdom and Germany will hold a meeting to discuss President Trump's plan for NATO allies to provide weapons for Ukraine.

Ukraine and NATO thus need far cheaper solutions compared to missiles like the Patriot to fight Shaheds, Maj. Gen. Christian Freuding said.

This figure is also a marked increase from the assessment on June 9 of Ukraine's Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) that Russia plans to increase production capacity to 190 drones per day, by the end of 2025.

Russia is open to peace with Ukraine, but achieving its goals remains a priority, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Sunday, days after U.S. President Donald Trump gave Moscow a 50-day deadline to agree to a ceasefire or face tougher sanctions.

Russia's Shahed-style one-way attack drones are used in nightly bombardments against Ukrainian cities.
