Evacuations are underway in Gillespie County as a new wildfire spreads near I-10 in the area of Duderstadt Road.

The Crabapple Fire in Gillespie County has burned 9,500 acres and is 55% contained, according to the City of Fredericksburg and Texas A&M Forest Service.

The Crabapple Fire has burned thousands of acres in Gillespie County in just over 32 hours. As of 9 p.m. March 16, the fire burned 9,500 acres and is 55 percent contained. There is not a mandatory evacuation in place;

Fire crews from across the state continue to fight the Crabapple wildfire in Gillespie County. It's burned more than 9,700 acres, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS).

A Gillespie County wildfire, named the Crabapple fire, prompted evacuations as it reached more than 9,700 acres by Monday, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

Fire officials weren't declaring victory over the 9.700-acre Crabapple Fire, as windy conditions increase the risk it could again spread.
