The Mountain West and Pac-12 conferences are headed for a major legal showdown this fall after failed mediation over $150 million in exit and poaching fees related to realignment.

The Pac-12 and Mountain West are headed to court. The conferences were unable to reach a settlement in the legal dispute over exit fees and poaching penalties tied to the Pac-12's acquisition of five Mountain West schools,

This week was not like any other Mountain West media day, however. For five of the league’s 12 schools, it was their last. A year from now, they’ll be in the Pac-12, as that century-old league hard-launches its new form.
