States can now block the country's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, from receiving Medicaid money. The organization argues Medicaid pays for its patients' overall healthcare, and those funds already cannot be used to pay for abortions in most cases.

The Supreme Court upheld South Carolina's bid to defund Planned Parenthood, ruling that Medicaid patients cannot sue to choose their provider. The court held in a 6-3 ruling along ideological lines, with the conservative justices in the majority.
