SILVIS, Ill. (AP) -- Doug Ghim holed out from the fairway for eagle for the second straight day, sending him to a 3-under 68 and a one-shot lead Friday in the John Deere Classic, his first 36-hole lead in his six years on the PGA Tour.

Doug Ghim is at 9 under after a first-round 62 and he's leading after one round. Austin Eckroad and Max Homa fired 63s and they're a shot back. Others giving chase include Sam Stevens, Justin Lower and Michael Kim.

Behind the best 36 holes Homa has had off the tee "in a while consecutively," the six-time winner is in a position for his best result in over a year.
