The Golden State Valkyries finally went into action on Tuesday night. They played their first preseason game at Chase Center in San Francisco. The WNBA’s newest team played against the Los Angeles Sparks.

The pre-game and post game shows will also be available streaming on CBS News Bay Area The Valkyries will be playing at Chase Center but their headquarters is in Oakland.

For starters, Kate Martin, who the team selected in the expansion draft from the Las Vegas Aces roster, brought the energy and passion that made her so popular as a rookie. The Valkyries also got a huge outing from third-year player, Laeticia Amihere, who they claimed off of waivers after the Atlanta Dream waived her.
