The Colorado Avalanche traded for forward Brock Nelson before the trade deadline and is now returning him on a three-year extension.

On Wednesday, the Avalanche announced the club and Nelson signed a three-year contract extension through the 2027-28 season. Colorado acquired Nelson in a trade with the New York Islanders at the 2025 trade deadline.

The Colorado Avalanche shored up their depth at center by bringing back Brock Nelson on a three-year deal. The team announced the contract extension Wednesday that will keep the 33-year-old Nelson with the Avalanche through the 2027-28 season.
