Oklahoma City got their third shot in the Utah Summer League, taking on the host team, the Utah Jazz. Headlined by an impressive performance from second-year guard Ajay Mitchell, the Thunder fell to the Utah Jazz 86-82.

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz defeated the Memphis Grizzlies, 112-111, at Jon M. Huntsman Center in the 2025 Salt Lake City Summer League on Monday.

Layden, first hired in the NBA by Hall of Famer Hubie Brown as an assistant for the Atlanta Hawks, came to Utah as the New Orleans Jazz moved to the state in 1979. Then the team’s general manager, Layden stepped into the role of the team’s head coach in 1981.

Frank Layden, the man who led the Jazz to their first NBA playoffs appearance in 1984 and helped build the foundations for successful teams in the 1990s, died Wednesday. He was 93. A cause of death was not announced.
