LONDON — It’s fitting that the Wimbledon final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner on Sunday represents the first time the same two men meet for that title right after playing for the French Open trophy since a couple of guys named Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal did so every year from 2006-2008.

Top seed and three-time grand slam champion Jannik Sinner faces off against rival Carlos Alcaraz, with the Spaniard bidding for an elusive ‘double double’ - winning the ‘Channel Slam’ of French Open and Wimbledon twice in succession - and to seal three straight titles in SW19.

If Alcaraz loses, Sinner will be just one major trophy behind the Spaniard with the chance to match and then leapfrog him should he defend his titles at the US Open and Australian Open, where he’s the current champion.
