As the manhunt for the remaining escaped New Orleans inmates continues, Sheriff Susan Hutson has been in the spotlight as local and state officials question how such a large jailbreak was possible and some call for her resignation.
Embattled Orleans Parish Susan Hutson announced Tuesday evening (May 20) that she is “temporarily” suspending her campaign for re-election this fall. Hutson has come under withering criticism in the wake of the May 16 escape of 10 inmates from the Orleans Justice Center jail she has supervised since May 2022.
