The bolt struck local archers and a boy scout troop in New Jersey, killing one man and injuring 13 other people. Friends of the victims said the strike had come out of nowhere.
One person died and 13 others were injured in a lightning strike Wednesday night in Jackson Township, Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz told NJ Advance Media. The incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. at Black Knight Bowbenders, an outdoor archery range in town, according to Ocean County Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy.
