An Orleans Parish Coroner's Office employee was captured on camera apparently dragging the bagged body of a homicide victim down the front steps of a Bywater home Thursday night, raising fresh criticism about the office’s procedures.

Back in 2021 at a crime scene on North Saint Patrick Street, a coroner's office employee was recorded dragging a body bag out of a house and down steps.

An employee who was caught on video mishandling the body of a homicide victim has been fired, according to a statement from the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office. The victim has been identified as Michael Craig Hankins,
