Carlos Alcaraz will begin his bid for a third consecutive Wimbledon championship and put his career-best 18-match winning streak on the line by facing the volatile Fabio Fognini in the first round at Centre Court when the tournament begins Monday.

Key opening men's matches at Wimbledon have an Italian flavour in the form of world number one Jannik Sinner facing compatriot Luca Nardi while Spanish twice reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz also has Italian opposition in veteran Fabio Fognini.

Alcaraz could run into either fifth seed Taylor Fritz or ninth seed Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals. Both have done well at Wimbledon in the past. He's likely to face Sinner or Djokovic in the championship round, two of his biggest rivals at the moment.
