Cal Raleigh is having a magnificent season for the Seattle Mariners. The superstar catcher is on the verge of setting a new single-season catcher home run record. He's got a chance to catch the single-season switch-hitter home run record. He's also a great defender with an awesome nickname (Big Dumper). It's a good time to be Raleigh.

Raleigh hit his 46 th home run of the season on Friday night in the third inning of the Mariners game against the New York Mets at Citi Field. The home run broke a tie with Johnny Bench for the second-most in a season by a catcher and left Raleigh trailing only Salvador Perez, who hit 48 homers in 2021.

It was also another record-setting night for Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh. In the top of the third inning, Raleigh hit a two-run homer to left field. It was his major league-leading 46th homer of the season, which gave him sole possession of the second-most single-season homers by a catcher in MLB history, passing Hall of Famer Johnny Bench.
