Nicole Kidman is practicing what she preaches. During a recent interview for Time magazine, the Oscar winner opened up about surpassing her 2017 goal of working with a woman director every 18 months since the height of the #MeToo movement.

Kidman has since worked with auteur after auteur. When certain directors call, she doesn’t even read the script before saying yes: she gleefully signed onto Lars von Trier’s 2003 avant-garde thriller Dogville; Yorgos Lanthimos’ unsettling 2017 drama The Killing of a Sacred Deer; and Robert Eggers’ bloody 2022 fable, The Northman.

Nicole Kidman vowed to work with as many female directors as possible following the #MeToo movement. Having now far surpassed her original goal, Kidman opened up about her journey in a recent interview with Time.

According to Time, Nicole has worked as an actor and producer with a woman director on 19 film and TV projects over the past eight years. The UCLA Hollywood Diversity Report states that women directed fewer than 15% of theatrical films. Nicole believes, "It can be changed, but it can only be changed by actually being in the films of women."
