Global automaker’s sales in North America declined over the past year because of high-cost models that dealers struggled to sell.

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares is out at the company, effective immediately and a year earlier than his planned exit, the automaker announced Sunday.

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has resigned from the automaker, which cited "different views" between him and the board of directors. The Jeep maker said its process to appoint a new CEO is "well under way" and that it expects to conclude the search during the first half of next year.
