Bloomberg is reporting this morning that Sony is working on a portable version of the PlayStation 5. This comes hot on the heels of news from Microsoft that a portable Xbox is being worked on, and of course ahead of the imminent announcement of the Switch 2. Everyone’s going handheld!

Sony is reportedly set to return to the handheld console market with a new portable PlayStation that plays PS5 games on the go. Bloomberg reports that this unannounced handheld console is in the works now,

Handhelds are clearly going to continue coming back in a big way, as now even Sony is reportedly developing a proper, non-cloud based portable console.

PlayStation is, of course, no stranger to handheld gaming. The PSP constituted the only serious competition Nintendo ever had in the portable console market, and sold more than 76m units. But its successor, the PlayStation Vita, fared less well - and reportedly sold around 16m units.
