The North Carolina high court on Friday issued a ruling on the still-unresolved state Supreme Court election that could reverse Democratic Justice Allison Riggs’ narrow win.

The number of ballots in question exceeds the slim margin by which the Democratic incumbent won, potentially leading to the November election being overturned.

The Republican-dominated court paused a sweeping order that would’ve forced tens of thousands of voters to prove their eligibility or risk having their votes thrown out in the Supreme Court election.
