After nearly eight years, Lena Dunham will return to TV this July with “Too Much,” a Netflix rom-com she created with husband Luis Felber. The “Girls” helmer said her long break from television was done by design. “I definitely took an intentional break,” she told The Times in an interview published Saturday.

The sudden changes in her life came after Girls concluded with its sixth season in 2017, and a rocky transition back to life after the show's mega success — and the harsh criticism and body-shaming she was subject to while it was airing. In an interview with The Times, she recalled feeling "fatigued" after working on the HBO series for five years.

Dunham will soon be back onscreen with her semi-autobiographical Netflix series “Too Much.” Yet it was a tough decision to return to the screen. Dunham told The New Yorker that at first she was skeptical about starring in the series; instead, she appears in a supporting role.
