India's wholesale inflation in April slowed to a 13-month low on the back of moderating food prices, government data showed on Wednesday.

Wholesale price inflation eased to 0.85% in April from 2.05% in March, driven by lower prices of food, fuel, and manufactured goods, government data showed. The industry ministry attributed the positive rate to rising costs in food manufacturing,

India's headline inflation eased to 3.16% in April, the sixth consecutive month of decline. The reading was lower than March's data of 3.34%, and is lower than the 3.27% expected by economists polled by Reuters. This was the sixth straight month that the inflation fell.
