A “major winter storm” will hit Colorado’s mountains Monday night, make its way to lower elevations Tuesday evening and last through Wednesday, NWS forecasters said.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in place Sunday to 6am Monday for the Elkhead, Park, Flat Tops, Gore, and Elk Mountains where 4 to 10 inches of snow could stack up by Monday morning. Sunday night some of that moisture could make its way to the Front Range with a rain/snow mix in Denver and across the northeast plains.

DENVER -- A Civil Air Patrol plane crash in Colorado has killed the aircraft's pilot and an aerial photographer, authorities say. The crash that occurred in Larimer County on Saturday killed pilot Susan Wolber and aerial photographer Jay Rhoten, according to a statement released by the office of Gov. Jared Polis.
