Alex Palou’s decision to show his love for the Indiana Pacers comes at a time when the Gainbridge Fieldhouse outfit is locked in an Eastern Conference Final with the New York Knicks. The series currently has the Pacers leading three games to one, with the next match slated for Madison Square Garden in New York on May 29.

With 13 laps to go in the 2025 Indianapolis 500, Alex Palou made his move, passing Marcus Ericsson for the lead amid traffic ahead of them and ultimately winning his first Indy 500. Ericsson — the 2022 Indy 500 winner who was among eight past Indy 500 champions in Sunday's 109th race — finished second by 0.6822 seconds.

Alex Palou's historic win also brought big viewership to the first running of the Indy 500 to ever air on FOX, which saw a 40% jump in viewership from last year.

After four straight finishes in the top 10, Álex Palou is the Indianapolis 500 winner for the first time. The three-time IndyCar Series champion held off Marcus Ericsson down the final stretch to earn a trip to the winner's circle and the best glass of milk he'll ever drink.
